howard's history of automobiles

This section is a tribute to automobiles. In particular, to all the automobiles my wife and I have ever owned. In rough chronological order of course. It all started when I attempted to see if I could find pictures on the inter-web of every vehicle I have ever owned. Success is mine, and now yours! I must get some of the auto-lust from my Dad, who had some sweet rides.

1969 Chevrolet Chevelle
This car was a smoker to be sure. Best of all, it was my first car, so it could have been a Yugo and I probably would have loved the thing. I got in plenty of trouble as it was...

1969 Ford LTD
The height of 1960s fashion and luxury, everything was completely built in an custom, so you better like what you get! I did...

1967 Ford Ranch Wagon
I know this is a ridiculous car to be attached to, but it was the family car when I was growing up, and then later mine... so there was a lot of history there... and a lot of room in the back as I recall...

1967 Dodge Dart Swinger
Muscle car for Howard. Mine was certainly past its prime by the time I got it, but I could understand the appeal for sure.

1978 Honda Accord Hatchback
There is a reason that they are still making these vehicles today, they got a lot right with this car... even if mine was a bit of an odd bird for the United States.

1985 Chevy Cavalier (Type-10)
Annes First Car. What can I say, I was very glad that it got her back and forth and to and fro. And as she always pointed out, it was the type-10 version, so it was the cool one...

1985 Mazda GLC
First new car that I ever bought, and I spared all expense. I actually made the dealer take out the radio because I did not agree to the upgrade. Stupid, I just had to buy one and put it in myself....

1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse
I probably had one of the first couple hundred off the lines in Japan. This was a sweet little car, and they still make them!

1992 Mitsubishi Expo
This was actually a really good idea for a car, it was kinda like a jacked up mini station wagon. It was a good concept, and it worked out well for us.

1994 Mazda Protege
The main appeal to this car at the time I got it was that it was an automatic. Needless to say, it grew on me after that and turned out to be a good little car. The sun roof was a nice touch as well.

1996 Jeep Cherokee
I felt so tough when I got this truck. I had always wanted a Jeep since I was young. I used to play with a little toy Wagoneer.... be careful what toys you get your kids! I also liked toy airplanes... hummm

1997 Town and Country Van
This was a very comfortable van and we used it to haul stuff and dogs all over the place. Everyone has to have a mini-van at some point... And if you are going to go, they you might as well go big!

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
Annes favorite car of all time (so far, I am still working on her). It was definitely upscale, and it did well in the snow and the limited amount of off road driving we do (like our driveway for instance). It made the trip from Chicago to Northern Wisconsin every weekend for a really long time...

2001 S10 Pickup
Tough looking jacked up machine... It hauled my butt and my trash for about 100,000 miles. I do not not ask much more then that, usually. Satellite radio was a nice addition...

2003 Audi TT
So awesome I just want to lick it. That why I need to keep it very very clean at all times... This car also plays a prominent role in a Steely Dan song - The things I miss the most. Missing things is bad....

2003 Trailblazer LT EXT
We called this one Big Red, they also referenced this vehicle in a Steely Dan song so, but a different album then the TT...

2007 Audi Q7
So far, so good. Pretty hard to think of something I would want that this machine does not have. I suspect that the Steely Dan song will be coming soon! Works great in the snow, and hauls rump on the highway.

New Boat
The wait is finally over... the new boat is here, and it actually floats. When it is not going really fast...

My Birthday
Here are a few pictures from my birthday this year... I like to keep it low key.

Ice Fishing
It's cold up here, what are we supposed to do when the temp gets up to zero? We go a little goofy...

Christmas 2007
Lots of festive action in the northwoods. Turkey and cookies. Presents and goodwill towards men. Still working on the peace on earth thing, but I think we have a shot!

Kauai Vacation
Try to imagine a place better then the north shore of a tropical island paradise... Does your brain hurt? It should.
